This bidding system was devised by Charles H. Goren in 1944 and revised many times later.

The main features of the system are:

Goren Point Count;
4-card majors;
Strong NT;
Responder with trump support should bid 2 with 7-10 points, 3 with 13-16 points and Jump Shift with 19+;
Opening 2 bids show a 5-card suit and 25+ points;
Stayman.
