Rodulfo was born in 1958 in Washington DC, but grew up in Australia and
India, before coming to England to complete his education.Rodulfo studied painting at the Norwich School of Art 1975-79, where he was taught be Ed Middleditch, Nigel Henderson, and Jon Wonnacott.
He held his first successful solo show whilst still a student, and on leaving art school was immediately taken up by the London gallery of Margaret Fisher, where he continued to exhibit for several years, until the owner's death. Since then, Rodulfo has exhibited widely in group and solo shows in the UK, Europe, Asia, the USA and South America, in such venues as The Royal Academy (London), Hong Kong Museum, and New York Expo.
Over the years the influences on my art have been numerous and diverse, but I have usually gravitated in my interests towards romantic painting and art of the imagination in its many manifestations, including symbolist, surrealist, visionary, cobra, art-brut, Eqyptian, outsider, occult, tantric, alchemical, extraterrestrial, and shamanic art of all cultures.
I paint, sculpt, or draw every day, and as the work is constantly in progress it is hard to say exactly what motivates me to make any particular piece; one merges into another, and each often changes its imagery many times before completion. Art is for me an act of exploration, and it is at its most enjoyable when I am most surprised by the outcome. My art is a balancing act between the internal and external, between the conscious and the unconscious.
