This morning it is discovered that the prisoner has escaped from the
temple of Horus. The first such event for many a year.
The rains start as the party search East Harbour in vain for the escapee. |

John receives a letter from Kelnor: a mage who is planning an attack
on Tesphesus as soon as the weather permits. |

Acting on some information Erkon has it is decided that they will strike
at a communications post of the dark arm during the rainy season. |

Kandi guide with a camel train. |

Cross into Tarishe territory and arrive at Us Quin. There
is a little discussion here but eventually the passing warband agree to
escort the party rather than kill them. |

Arrive at Us Tarishe, a fortified port. By dropping Doolin’s
name they get to see King Alamor. He shows them much hospitality while they
tell him how they helped recover the holy lance of Dramin. The King agrees to
lend them a couple of boats. |

Rodick flies around as everyone else embarks upon two Tarishe
vessels; the Ol Ful and Gril Ful. Apparently their names mean White fish and Red fish.
They sail east along the coast into Naz territory. They camp among rocks, but
are attacked in the night by 20 Orcs. They kill 10 and the rest flee, Wally
(one of the reinforcements from the temple of Horus) dies in the first salvo. |

Land on the isle of Byde, their destination, which is an
unappealing lump of rock some twenty miles by ten. Scouts start combing the
island from the north whilst everyone else trudges up the nearest hill and
begin digging in.
Rodick is flying around and spots that Meer is about to be ambushed by 20 orcs.
He flies down, invisible, alerts Meer and the Orcs are routed; 10 lying dead.
Straw, who has been scouting further inland, is ambushed; but escapes.
Adam, the other scout - on the east side of the island, spots a less well
executed ambush set up for him; and evades.
Rodick, now grounded, accompanies Meer as they press on. They get close to the
place they are seeking, when they fall, at the first volley of arrows, in the
fourth ambush of the day.
After the other scouts have been back for a couple of hours the rest of the party
set out to see what happened to them.
They eventually find a concealed entrance to a lava tube. Investigating they
discover that this is a strong hold of the Naz orc tribe.
The combat that ensues is disrupted by a mass fear cast by the Naz shaman.
This causes a log jam in the narrow corridor the party find themselves in.
The log jam bursts, like a champagne cork, when Erkon fireballs the orcs.
Many orcs fall, as does Erkon, and the remainder of the party gush out into
the lava tube. About half of these fall down a steeply sloping section in
their rush to run away, the rest rally and return to the fray.
The combat drags on as the dregs of the party struggle against the cream of the orcs.
Eventually 130+ orcs are dead, along with their pet troll. Straw is missing,
Erkon in dead, six others are unconscious and just about everyone is wounded.
The butchered remains of Meer and Rodick are recovered. |

They return to the Lava tube, and explore it in the other direction.
They find a wall, with a door. On opening the door they are exposed to it’s
protection - a Glyph of Berserking. On the other side are 6 shadows. None of
these cause them any difficulty. sixty feet further on the come to another wall.
This door is protected by another glyph, despite their precautions most of
the party are hypnotised by this defence. A couple of party members penetrate
the veil only to be paralysed by some ghouls. The only reason the ghouls don’t
take out the entire group is that they in turn are hedged by the presence of Hector.
Eventually they sort themselves out and discover a storage chamber containing
all manner of ancient plunder; the far end of the chamber is submerged as the
floor slopes down. |

John, Ted, Akraan and Gif explore underwater. They fight some
mermen with their pet barracuda, they first mermen are killed quickly forcing
the rest to flee. They recover 19 gold ingots.
The party then hike out, with their loot, north to where they prepared a beacon.
After seeing the beacon, the ships return and they leave the isle of Byde far behind. |

Arrive back at Us Tarishe where they again meet the King. The
Tarishe raise Erkon and try with Wally. Meer is reincarnated as a Ken Ku. |
| 18: |
Rodick is reincarnated as a Hyena. Meer plays the deck. Wally
is also reincarnated as a Ken Ku. |
| 20: |
Rodick plays the deck and becomes a giant hyena.
Several days of resting and identifying now follow. |
