Shades of Gray
  Akraan
I had my team of instigators, slanderers and journalists to take a shot or two at Akraan:

Akraan started out as a highly agile elven fighter cum scout. Akraan however has a great weakness for chaos. He played with the powers of chaos to such a degree that he is probably the least agile elf in existence; at least he would be where it not for the fact that he is now a troll. This has made him a very formidable warrior though at the cost of his sociability. He no longer scouts for the group, but instead toys with chaos magic. We say toys, because the evidence is that he has never really mastered the application of magic outside the realm of manipulating chaotic powers. Actually however it is more like chaos plays with him, than the other way around.

Akraan has one follower. He was another elf fighter who played with chaos: by the name of Fulligar. Fulligar is now a gorilla, again this is socially limiting. Fulligar has several followers. The first of these is another wood elf warrior, though normal in appearance, he is even more socially dysfunctional than either the troll or the gorilla. Then there is his dog. His dog is the weirdest of the bunch, unfortunately we have been unable to discover much about him except that he is intelligent, can talk, and even (it is said) can wield a pair of long swords.

The first time Akraan died was when they stormed the tower of Magfred (see Gif's description for an explanation).

The second time was when, as a member of a scouting party, he became trapped underground beneath two giant white worms. This was a particularly messy affair which no one walked away from.

The next time he died was when the chaos mage Everard screwed up one of his spells, a fireball to be precise, and Akraan was ever so slightly toasted. It was at this point that Akraan was reincarnated as a troll, lost his agility at a hand of chaos, and became a chaos mage himself.

His fourth encounter with the reaper was when he fought some ghouls, luckily he only died.

Since he now regenerates, as all trolls do, Akraan has survived many encounters that would have proved fatal otherwise.

Gray's Web Site
People are always asking me what is Dungeons and Dragons. And I always have difficulty getting them to believe my answer (one of the players fell of his stool in bar, laughing, thinking that Nedz and I were winding him up when we were trying to get him to play). It isn't a board game, you don't play it with cards, and we don't run around waving rubber swords. The bare essentials are pen, paper, some dice, the players, and a bit of imagination. But that doesn't explain a lot...

I'm going to break the question into two other questions:
What's a Role Playing Game?, and So What's D&D?
