One Notrump Forcing

The use of the 1NT response to partner’s major-suit opening bid as a one-round force. The bid shows about 6-12 points, but the inability to raise partner's suit or bid 1

over a 1

opening. The purpose is to allow a more thorough investigation by assuring responder of a second opportunity to bid.

Note: While the response is still forcing in principle when the bidder has previously passed, opener may pass.
